Wildside - Cancelled COVID 3 - 4 Oct 2020

Monkerai Valley, NSW

Fully Rad Adventures has announced a change to this year’s special edition race in June, moving from Nymboida to the spectacular Barrington Tops.

“With all that has been happening along the NSW North Coast and in our backyard we decided it was best to move this years race. We were looking forward to Nymboida and will continue to plan a Wildside for this beautiful part of the Coffs Coast as it is a great region for adventure racing.” Richard Old, Race Director.

“The very first Wildside passed through the Barrington region and we have always wanted to head back. Now is a good time for that, especially with recent rains seeing rivers flowing again” Mr Old continued.

The 3/4 Oct will be a big weekend with racers from across Australia converging on the region to get a heavy dose of adventure. Teams of 4 or 2 will have 12, 24 or 36 hours to navigate through spaces rarely visited and overcome challenges traversing demanding landscapes, moving from checkpoint to checkpoint by foot, mountain bike and kayak.

Wildside is race three of the 2020 Adventure1 Australian Adventure Racing Series as well as a part of the new A2 Adventure Race Series. The A1 series has point’s events across Australia with the best teams vying for the converted title of 2020 Aus champions. A2 series is designed to grow the sport and teams will be vying for the State title.

RaceHQ will be the stunning Riverwood Downs, 3hrs from Sydney and 80min from Newcastle airport. Located on the edge of the Karuah River this is the perfect base to go adventuring from. As well as a range of accommodation options available teams will be able to book a special bunkhouse deal directly with Fully Rad.

Starting on Saturday 3 Oct teams will use map, compass together with their own wits and skills to navigate their way over an unmarked route by mountain biking, paddling, trekking, orienteering, trail running, and of course a few surprises through the spectacular Barrington landscape. They will have until Sunday 28 June to finish as they problem solve, route find and persevere over a wild course.

“This race will have everything - challenging treks, demanding mountain biking and exciting paddling. The course is rich in history, has a close connection with the nature and is stunningly beautiful. We are designing a race that will give teams a real adventure experience as well as get to know the area.”

If you have been searching for that next challenge or for an adventure that will create memories that will last a lifetime then the Wildside Adventure Race Special Edition is the event
